    International House Bratislava, teaching face-to-face at school, online and travelling to off-site classes (companies and state schools)

    Reports to:
    The Director of Studies


    Summary of role:
    Responsible for teaching 25-30 TH (teaching hours) a week (1 TH = 45-min.). You will deliver lessons aimed at General English, Business English adult students and Young Learners.

    Face-to-face teaching takes place on the school premises, in companies, and in state schools; online teaching takes place via Zoom and/or MS Teams (the exact amount will depend on current pandemic restrictions).

    Both adult and young learner levels range from A1 to C2.

    All lessons are taught from Mondays to Fridays, and classes usually start at 7:30 although this can vary from day to day.

    You might be asked to teach a few classes in the evenings but in general, most teaching finishes by 6pm, and 3pm on Fridays.

    No teaching takes place at the weekend.


    Specific responsibilities:
    Plan, prepare and deliver lessons that are appropriate for your students and are based on the Communicative Language Approach.
    Teaching at school, online (Zoom/ MS Teams) and/or travelling to offsite classes (companies and state schools).
    Take part in the school's Teacher Development Programme, including observations and fortnightly workshops.
    A willingness to teach Young Learners is essential.

    QualificationsQualifications and education:
    A Bachelors university degree
    CELTA, TESOL, IHC or equivalent recognized by IHWO


    Other requirements:
    MUST BE AN EU CITIZEN OR HAVE A SLOVAK WORK PERMIT.
    Flexible to travel to off-site classes (companies and state schools).
    Willing to teach Young Learners.


    Due to visa restrictions, only EU applications can be considered as the legalisation process for non-EU citizens takes more than 3 months.

    Salary and BenefitsFreelance contract, as is the norm in Central Europe (but with a stable teaching schedule and timetable).

    Minimum 25-30 TH a week (1 teaching hour = 45 minutes)

    Length: 1 year

    Hourly rates:
    Euros per TH for adults and online classes; 16-18 Euros per TH for Young Learners (meaning an average gross monthly income of 1,100 - 1,600 Euros)


    Accommodation and Admin:
    The school can help teachers find accommodation in shared flats (currently approx Euros a month rent).

    The school provides full assistance in getting a Trade License and doing other paperwork (opening a bank account, obtaining a transport pass).


    Allowance and bonuses:
    First month travel allowance (25 Euros).

    Flight reimbursement of up to 150 Euros (if the teacher terminates the contract before completing 1 year with the school, the reimbursement amount will be deducted from the teachers pay).

    Loyalty travel bonus 150 Euros upon completion of a 1-year contract and extension for another school year.
